That is the question Playground Basketball Center is asking with the launch of what is believed to be Phnom Penh’s first 24-hour basketball centre. Unlike traditional sporting venues, Playground operates on a simple honour system where players are trusted to use the facility responsibly, return equipment, respect the venue and pay for what they use.

There are no complicated check-in procedures. No staff watching every movement. Just a basketball community built on honesty, respect and shared ownership.

Rather than asking, “How do we stop people from doing the wrong thing?”, Playground asks a different question:

“What happens if we trust people first?”

While the 24-hour access is unique, Playground’s vision extends far beyond casual basketball.
